Applauding Northern Thai Dancers

Northern Thailand's culture is Lanna in origin and the people are very proud of their northern roots. The region is home to distinctly different food, music, arts, way of life, and even language. Chiang Rai is a melange of hill tribes and Lanna culture.

Dance in Thailand is the main dramatic art form of Thailand. A troupe of beautiful young Thai dancers perform every evening a variety of Northern Thai dances at Chiang Rai's night bazaar, a touristy night market in the middle of downtown Chiang Rai. The choreography is accompanied by music with a lively rhythm. The dancers wear brightly coloured costumes and their harmonious movements are accompanied by folk songs associated with Northern Thailand. Many of the dances have very slow, graceful, and almost meditative movements…

Life's a compromise: if you have to use the harsh light of the built-in pop-up flash for your portrait, the applied shutter speed can control how much ambient light goes into the image. The slower the shutter speed, the more ambient light will seep into the image. The faster the shutter speed, the less ambient light will come in. Shoot at too fast a shutter speed, and your background may go into darkness.
